In 2009, Don Williams, an internationally renowned musician of the film music genre and brother of the brilliant John Williams, established the high level of the workshop followed in 2010 by the famous Hollywood composer Bruce Broughton (Silverado and Young Sherlock Holmes) with his younger but already successful colleague Daniel Wehr.
Courses were attended by participants from ten countries and will be held again in 2011 from July 2nd through July 14th in the beautiful city of Klosterneuburg (adjacent to Vienna), Austria with lectures conducted by established composers from Hollywood.
At this time, we are especially proud to announce the participation of one of Hollywood's hottest and busiest film composers,
BLAKE NEELY
Blake, currently involved as composer among other projects with the successful TV series “The Mentalist“, has also written the music to the film comedy "Life as we know it", which premiered in American cinemas in October 2010.
He is one of the young stars among the ranks of Hollywood's illustrious top composer elite. His expertise in this field can be thoroughly observed by studying his extensive resume list of achievements. Whether composing his own film and television scores, contributing to movies such as “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “King Kong” or conducting and lecturing at workshops, his unique style, friendly nature and enthusiastic output make him the perfect teacher for every student of the film music genre.
This course provides a unique opportunity to spend time with him and all students will benefit from his tremendous knowledge from Hollywood's epic romantic style of the
30's and 40's all the way through the decades to today's modern, innovative and
up to date trends of independent and progressive film scoring.
In addition there will be the exciting opportunity to produce a
recording in a Hollywood style scoring session,
you can find more information under Blake Neely Workshop contents.
Equally exciting is the continuation of
DANIEL WEHR´s
enthusiastically received dynamic course. The result of his 2010 workshop can be seen
in the excitement and enthusiastic comments by his actively participating students who
all agreed on how much they will benefit from having worked with him in such a
challenging fashion. In 2011, his intense course of creative and demanding workdays
will be extended over a two week period.
Also Daniel Wehr will present in his first week the possibility of
a Hollywood style scoring session.
The workshop offers the attendee the rare opportunity to learn and practice film composition techniques through hands-on workshop sessions and the accessibility to ask questions of experienced professionals with extensive teaching experience.
Theory and practical application of composition techniques will be covered and participants will experience the activities of a Hollywood composer in an intense working environment.
We are equally delighted to offer a workshop for film directors and cutters.
CHRISTINE AUFDERHAAR,
renowned Swiss composer, living in Berlin will be conducting a two day course,
for additional information, please consult her directly.
The underlying theme throughout the workshop will be connecting the techniques and methods used in film composition between Europe and the U.S.A. to share and enhance one's knowledge and common interests. Attention could be given to all media composition in general, i.e., not only film music but also TV, commercials, video games, etc.
Our goal is to foster the talent of young film composers by providing a stimulating, enthusiastic and enriching experience for each student to enhance his or her personal career.
There will be numerous opportunities to expand one's personal knowledge through examples of practical application. We aim to give equal attention to all participants regardless of their background in composition. Equally important is the opportunity to develop good working relationships and contacts between the teachers and fellow students that may continue into the future.
We are very excited to offer such highly talented artists to those appreciative participants who recognize this unique opportunity. We look forward with enthusiasm to meet and work with the participants in 2011.
“This workshop was unique, there is no equal film music course offered throughout Europe. The cumulative knowledge of the two lecturers Bruce Broughton and Daniel Wehr, the concept and the engagement of the organizers- one cannot stop celebrating. Thank you very much, I´m looking forward to next year.”
(Nils Rohwer, Germany)
